Proving your English

English language proficiency

If English isn't your first language, or you studied outside Canada, you'll need to show one of the following. Requirements differ by program, so check yours below the table.

You may not need a test

If you completed Alberta English Language Arts 30-1 or 30-2 at 65% or better, or an equivalent from another province, you don’t need an English test. Formal study in English at a recognized institution also counts, at three courses a semester or more.
